A typical kitchen splashback runs the full width of the counter and about 0.5–0.6 m high, giving roughly 2–3 m² in a standard kitchen. Measure each run separately, add them together, then add 10 % for cuts around sockets, taps and window reveals. A standard splashback is a one-afternoon job for a first-timer: about an hour of surface prep and layout, then two to three hours of peeling, pressing and trimming. The adhesive cures fully over 24–48 hours.
Degrease the wall properly — kitchen walls carry a film of cooking oil that is invisible but lethal to adhesive. Wash with a degreaser, rinse, and let it dry fully. Then you need a tape measure, a spirit level, a sharp knife, a straight edge, a seam roller and a cloth. Prime glossy or sealed surfaces with an adhesion promoter, and seal the joints around the sink with waterproof seam sealer.
