Installation Guide — Install WOTILE Tiles Like a Pro
Everything you need to install peel & stick tiles with confidence: tools, surface prep, step-by-step instructions for every product type, and answers to the questions we hear most. Most projects take an afternoon — no special skills required.
What you'll need
- Measuring tape and pencil
- Level and a long ruler
- Utility knife with extra blades (scissors for soft panels)
- Clean cloth, mild cleaner, and a scraper
- Soft rubber roller or a clean cloth to press tiles down
- Primer (only for very porous or glossy surfaces)
The 6 basic steps (all product types)
- Prepare the surface — it must be clean, dry and flat. Wipe away grease, dust and wax; remove loose paint; fill cracks and sand high spots.
- Plan the layout — dry-lay a few tiles first. A centered, symmetrical layout looks most professional. Mark a level guideline for your first row.
- Peel, stick and align — peel only a small section of backing at a time. Press onto the guideline, then smooth from the center outward to push out air bubbles.
- Cut to fit — score straight cuts along a ruler with a utility knife. Mark and knife out openings for outlets and switches.
- Press and finish — roll each tile firmly with a rubber roller to lock the adhesive. Butt edges together tightly.
- Let it cure — avoid heavy cleaning for 24–48 hours so the adhesive fully bonds.
Tips by product type
3D Wall Tiles (PU gel & PVC)
- Work from a level baseline — a crooked first row shows on every row after it.
- Stagger seams between rows for a more natural, professional look.
- Perfect for bathroom walls and kitchen backsplashes: the surface is water-resistant, just avoid directing water jets straight at the seams.
Peel & Stick Floor Tiles
- Let tiles acclimatize in the room for 24 hours before installing.
- Start from the center of the room and work outward so edge cuts stay symmetrical.
- Press every tile with a roller — floors take more traffic than walls, so the adhesive bond matters more.
- Avoid standing water; wipe spills promptly.
Slat Wall Panels
- Panels come in rolls — unroll and let them flatten for a few hours first.
- Align the top edge first, then smooth downward to keep the slats straight.
- Soft panels can be trimmed with sharp scissors; use a ruler for clean, straight lines.
- Great for feature walls and TV backs — plan outlets and cable routing before you start.
FAQ
How long does installation take?
Most wall projects take 2–4 hours; a typical floor or feature wall is an afternoon. The biggest time-saver is good surface prep.
Can I install over existing tiles or painted walls?
Yes — as long as the surface is flat, clean, dry and sound. Glossy painted surfaces should be lightly sanded or primed for the best adhesion.
How do I remove them later?
Warm the tile gently with a hairdryer to soften the adhesive, then peel slowly from one corner. Any residue comes off with mild cleaner.
Do I need extra adhesive?
No. The pre-applied adhesive is engineered for typical indoor surfaces. Extra adhesive is only needed in unusual cases (e.g. very textured walls) — contact us and we'll advise.
